Contract: full-time/part-time, initially fixed-term for 2 years followed by the option of a subsequent employment contract with an infinite duration
In our secondary school about 470 students are learning and preparing for the Cambridge IGCSE and IBDP final exams. Our excellent academic results benchmarked against the International Schools’ Assessment and the IGCSE and IB Diploma international examinations, are proof of the quality education we provide at Leipzig International School. The school is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools as well as the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Create an inspiring learning environment that supports intellectual, physical, social, and creative development.
  • Promote international-mindedness by encouraging openness to diverse perspectives, values, and traditions, fostering global citizenship in our learners.
  • Collaboratively plan and deliver lessons in partnership with your department colleagues and the entire secondary school team
  • Deliver engaging, relevant, and challenging lessons that address the needs of diverse learners and ensure student progress in all areas.
  • Provide meaningful feedback to guide learners in developing skills, knowledge, and critical thinking.
  • Build strong partnerships with parents through regular communication about student progress, achievements, and opportunities
  • Contribute to our school community by sharing expertise, refining practices, and ensuring cohesive systems across the secondary school.
  • Work collaboratively within our whole school community to uphold and enrich a unified approach to learning and teaching.

Your profile

We are seeking a candidate who embodies the following qualities and qualifications:

  • Educational Background:A University degree in Science with focus on Biology or comparable education
  • a valid teaching license.
  • Experience:Proven success as an exceptional teacher in an inquiry focused learning environment.
  • Familiarity with international curricula and experience in a diverse, globally-minded school community.
  • Skills and Attributes:High proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Excellent communication skills, including effective use of IT and new technologies.
  • Strong ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • A focus on fostering high achievement and student development.
  • Collaborative and flexible mindset with a positive attitude and a sense of humor.
  • Commitment to continuous professional growth and development.
  • Organizational, ethical, and empathetic qualities that inspire trust and respect.
