Technical Assistant (m/f/d) in Organoid and Stem Cell Biology

The Organoid and Stem Cell Facility (OSCF) at MPI-CBG provides user lab space, teaching and services in the field of stem cell biology. The facility offers cutting-edge stem cell technologies and services beyond the capacity of individual research groups, helping researchers to integrate the use of pluripotent stem cells into their work, assisting with reagents, and providing technical support for staff and students.
Your Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated person to join our facility team, with a passion for cell culture and a service-oriented mentality to work with our diverse community of scientists. Key tasks include:

  • Performing cell culture work and managing the cell line repository (including cancer cell lines and stem cells)
  • Conducting routine quality control assays of cell lines and organoids (e.g., RNA/DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, FACS, immunohistochemistry)
  • Supporting histological analyses, including tissue sectioning and microscopic evaluation
  • Running existing differentiation and organoid derivation protocols
  • Assisting in the development of new protocols to establish novel cell and organoid models, depending on skill set and experience
  • Supporting lab organization, including ordering materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring project documentation
  • Providing assistance to users and fostering collaboration across research groups

Essential Qualifications

  • Completed degree as a research technician (MTA/BTA) or university degree in biology or a related field
  • Practical experience in cell culture, preferably with stem cell and organoid culture
  • Expertise in molecular biology techniques, such as cloning, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and qPCR
  • Proficiency in English and German
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with a focus on teamwork and effective communication
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects proactively

Desirable Qualities

  • Expertise with the generation of clonal cell lines
  • Experience with iPSC reprogramming
  • Experience with FACS sorting

The position is available immediately. The initial contract is for 2 years with the expectation of prolongation contingent on the agreement of both parties.
